Pat Benatar has a 2-word response to Ted Cruz’s bizarre rant about her and Satan

Rock singer Pat Benatar is reacting to being referenced in a bizarre rant by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), and she only needed two words to hit him with her best shot.

On Wednesday, Cruz was interviewed by conservative talk show host Joe “Pags” Pagliarulo as he tried to explain why President Joe Biden is so popular in the US Senate.

However, Cruz’s reasoning was bizarre and included references to devil costumes, the full moon, child murder and, weirdest of all, the 1980s Rock & Roll Hall of Famer:

“I don’t think Senate Democrats, if you had a video of Joe Biden murdering kids dressed as devils under a full moon while singing Pat Benatar, they still wouldn’t vote to convict.”

Although Cruz’s comments may have referenced Benatar’s song “Hell Is for Children”, it seemed odd, given that this song is a condemnation of child abuse.

Unsurprisingly, Benatar’s fans came to her defense, but singer and husband Neil Giraldo stayed away until Friday, when they posted a brief two-word response to the senator on Facebook: “Nice try !”

HuffPost contacted Benatar but did not receive an immediate response.

Her publicist told Variety that the singer, who rarely makes public political statements, would not comment further on Cruz’s devilishly stupid comment.

Cruz didn’t make any further comments referencing Benatar, but if things get heated, one Twitter user had the obvious solution: a dance, like in Benatar’s iconic 1983 music video for “Love Is a Battlefield. “.
