Virgin Galactic stock soars as company prepares for first commercial spaceflight

Galactic Virgo (SPCE)Shares of the company are soaring after the company said it was days away from sending its first commercial flight into space, after years of delay.

Galactic 01 is scheduled to fly between June 27 and June 30, carrying a team of three Italian researchers, Virgin Galactic said. After that, it plans to start monthly flights from early August. Private astronauts will pay $450,000 to fly.

In recent premarket trades, shares of Virgin Galactic rose 42% to $5.78 per share. It had jumped a similar amount Thursday night.
