US soldier who entered North Korea faced disciplinary action at home

WASHINGTON, July 18 (Reuters) – The U.S. soldier who entered North Korea on Tuesday on a civilian tour of the border area was facing disciplinary action from the U.S. military, Reuters told two US officials on condition of anonymity.

It is unclear how the soldier arranged to participate in the tour. A third US official said the soldier entered North Korea “voluntarily and without permission”.
