Two detained after a man was found dead in Lima

LIMA – Two people are being held after a body was discovered early Sunday morning in Lima.

According to a statement from Det. Lima police. Steve Stechschulte, officers were dispatched to a home in the 1000 block of Reese Avenue in reference to a man in the backyard. Officers found the man, identified as Steven Smith, 41, of Lima, was deceased.

Investigators were able to quickly identify the deceased and determine potential suspects, the statement said. Two suspects have been questioned and are currently in custody. Latoya McClellan, 42, is suspected of tampering with evidence, while an unidentified 17-year-old man is being held on a misdemeanor murder charge, the statement said.

No other information is currently released, Stechschulte said in the statement. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call Stechschulte at the Lima Police Department at 419-221-5181.
