The Fayetteville Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a woman on Sunday

Detectives from the Fayetteville Police Homicide Unit are investigating a possible shooting death on Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of Westwick Lane.

At around 5.30pm, officers responded to Westwick Lane off Morganton Road after receiving reports of a possible shooting, according to a press release. At the scene, officers found “a female victim,” the statement said.

She was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, the statement said. His name is being withheld until authorities can notify his family, the statement said.

The survey is active. The incident does not appear to be random, the statement said.
