Summons says Trump-appointed judge will initially oversee documents case -ABC

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The summons sent to Donald Trump as part of his indictment for unlawful possession of classified documents says U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by the former president, will oversee his case, at least initially, ABC reported. Friday, citing sources.

Reuters was unable to immediately confirm ABC’s report. Often, the judge who makes a first appearance in a case does not review it.

Cannon, who was nominated by Trump in 2019, has been accused by critics of making questionable decisions that favored Trump in legal skirmishes that unfolded during the investigation into the documents last year.
