“Big, big day on the old salami line,” Fisher Stevens communications chief Hugo Baker announced two-thirds into the Sunday night feature series finale of Succession. He couldn’t have said truer words.
The final minutes of creator Jesse Armstrong’s saga of the Roy family have revealed that Matthew Macfadyen executive Tom Wambsgans has become the US CEO of Waystar Royco after his board voted to sell the company to the tycoon technology Alexander Skarsgård, Lukas Matsson. Earlier in the episode, Sarah Snook’s Shiv Roy decided to side with his two brothers, Jeremy Strong’s Kendall and Kieran Culkin’s Roman, to block the deal after learning that Matsson didn’t have the intention to become its CEO. At the board meeting, Shiv changed her mind and ultimately voted against the deal, following a heated huddle with her siblings in which she suggested Kendall couldn’t become CEO himself because he had killed someone.

At the end of the episode, a pregnant Shiv was apparently seen making up with Tom while Roman was hitting a bar, and a distraught Kendall walked away, followed by her father’s former security chief. , Colin by Scott Nicholson.
We also learned about the business future of several other Waystar Royco employees. Tom decided to keep both Nicholas Braun’s treacherous Greg and J. Smith-Cameron’s legal counsel, Gerri Kellman, while declaring that Peter Friedman’s Frank and David Rasche’s Carl were “dead.”
Hugo also received apparent bad news. When he tried to get close to his new boss, Tom immediately asked where Waystar Royco’s head of publicity, Karolina Novotney, played by Dagmara Dominczyk, was.
Big, big day on the old salami line, indeed.
