‘It is not reasonable to force Ukraine to approve and accept (the invasion) that Putin carried out and parts of Ukraine become Russian like that,’ Chancellor says of conversation phone call that he foresees in the near future.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said they knew nothing of such a conversation, according to the dictator’s program.

Scholz has argued with Putin several times since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, but to no avail. Their last conversation dates back to December 2, 2022. At that time, the German Chancellor also urged the dictator to withdraw his army from Ukraine and condemned Russian attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

Scholz said he will continue to phone Putin because it is important “to stay in touch with him”.

Kyiv, in turn, urged the international community to isolate the Russian dictator as much as possible.
