A real estate agent found a missing woman’s car near human remains while showing a home in Indiana, authorities say.

The months-long search for a missing Indiana woman has taken a grim turn after her car was discovered near human remains, according to investigators.
A real estate agent was showing a Rockville home to potential buyers when they stumbled across the vehicle and the remains at about 5 p.m. Sept. 17, the Parke County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Betty Jane Capps, 68, was last seen at her home in the nearby town of Mecca more than two months ago, on the afternoon of June 29, according to the sheriff’s office. She disappeared along with her car, a gray 2007 Ford Focus.
It’s not known where she was going, the sheriff’s office said in a July 13 Facebook post, adding that authorities searched the area with drones, planes and ATVs. Conservation officers combed local bodies of water using sonar, but still there was no sign of her — and there wouldn’t be for another two months.
After receiving a call from the real estate agent, investigators headed to the rural Rockville home and located Capps’ car 200 yards from the road, down an embankment, the sheriff’s office said.
Human remains were found close to the car, the sheriff’s office said.
The remains have not been identified, but an investigation is underway, with assistance from the county coroner’s office and Indiana State Police, according to the release.
“The only thing she took was her wallet. So she left her dog at home, and her house was unlocked. She wasn’t going very far when she left,” stepdaughter Melanie Capps told WTHI in August.
“I miss her, and I want her to come home. I want her to call ten times a day and annoy me,” she told the station. “I didn’t know I would miss that.”
Rockville is about 60 miles west of Indianapolis.
