Police investigate shooting outside Lane County Fair

One person was taken to hospital Friday night after being shot in the parking lot outside the Lane County Fairgrounds, Eugene police say.

Police and medics responded just before 9 p.m. to reports of gunfire outside the fairgrounds, according to a news release. Doctors treated a man in Friendly and 16th who had been shot before taking him to hospital. The police did not specify the age or the state of health of the man.

Eugene Police Lt. Chuck Salsbury said police received a report of an ongoing dispute that quickly escalated into multiple gunshots.

Police have not identified a suspect and said they believe they have left the area. It is not immediately clear what led to the shooting. Police said they secured the area.

At least 30 cars were prevented from leaving the parking lot due to the shooting investigation.
