A death investigation is underway in the 6600 block of Dupont Drive, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said on Twitter at about 4 p.m.

That’s just west of Old Pineville Road in southwest Charlotte.

Officers in the CMPD Steele Creek Division found the remains after responding to what they said was a “welfare” call.

Police said the remains are a male but offered no further information.
