CMPD says a shooting investigation is underway in the Steele Creek area.

Charlotte police have taken a person in custody in connection with a shooting that left two people with life-threatening injuries after they were wounded on a CATS bus Thursday.

In a news release, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reported the shooting happened about 11:15 a.m. on the 8500 block of Outlet Boulevard near the Charlotte Premium Outlets.

Medic reported that two people were transported from the scene to an area hospital for treatment. Police did not disclose what led to the shooting or the identities of the victims.

A suspect, who has not been identified, is in currently custody, police said. There is no current threat to the public, said police.

The shooting is still under investigation.
