There is a group of Russian elites who want to end the war with Ukraine and see Russian dictator Vladimir Putin brought to justice, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said on Twitter.

He commented on the armed rebellion of June 23 and 24 in Russia.

“Anything that might not go as planned in Russia will.” said Danilov.

“The ‘Prigozhin incident’ can initiate, or has already initiated, processes with unforeseeable consequences. A countdown has begun,” Danilov said, referring to Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin’s mutiny against the Russian Defense Ministry.

Danilov also listed seven consequences of the Prigozhin mutiny, namely:

  1. The Prigozhin rebellion is the first stage in the collapse of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s regime.

  2. Prigozhin is only part of a larger group and a larger plan – “the tip of the iceberg of destabilization processes” in Russia.

  3. There is a group of disgruntled people in Russia, including security officers, senior officials and oligarchs. They view Putin as mortally dangerous to their own interests and lives, and to Russia in general.

  4. “Prigozhin’s march from Rostov to Moscow” was a demonstration of his serious intentions, of his real ability to seize power by force. The Wagnerians have shown that they are capable of reaching Red Square in Moscow.

  5. Putin has only one way to survive – he must eliminate everyone he cannot trust, he must eliminate the Wagner group and publicly punish Prigozhin. He must also introduce martial law and mass repression in the country.

  6. There is a group of people in Russia who really want to negotiate with Ukraine, but they remain in the shadows for now. It is possible (self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander) that Lukashenko is in this group.

  7. Putin’s regime was stabbed with a knife in the back, which will inevitably lead to death, even if not immediately.

“We have to mind our own business… (regain) the 1991 borders,” Danilov said, summarizing his message on Twitter.

On the evening of June 24, Prigozhin left Rostov-on-Don, where his fighters had seized all major military installations in and around the city. After his deal with Putin, he ordered his mercenaries to stop marching on Moscow and all units were ordered back to battle positions.

Self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko mediated the talks between Putin and Prigozhin, according to remlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

The Kremlin has pledged to drop all charges against Prigozhin, whose whereabouts are unknown.

It is believed that he left for Belarus, in accordance with the agreement reached with the Kremlin.
