Mady Gosselin has released a rare statement following her brother Collin Gosselin’s recent accusations about the famous family.
Sharing her side on her Instagram Story early Thursday morning, Mady, 22, claimed she was no longer speaking to her younger brother – one of six 19-year-old sextuplets – due to his alleged physical threats against him.
“I never wanted to have to talk about this in order to allow my brother to live in private after our family’s TV show ended, but I’ve been inundated with hateful messages over the past few days and feel like I need to set the record straight,” said the Kate Plus 8 alum started. “I owe allegiance to no one who has physically threatened me and every member of my immediate family (some incidents as recent as last year). Also, I will never allow anyone who has exhibited hateful and even violent behavior towards others based on their racial identity, gender identity or religious beliefs to be in my life.”

Mady described the morals she adopted as an adult, alleging that Collin’s personal beliefs no longer match.
“Kindness, tolerance, love and acceptance are core values in my life and I refuse to compromise them for ANYONE, even my brother Collin, who has unfortunately made his views very clear in private,” she continued, later stating that there is “no further conversation to be had about rebuilding relationships with anyone in my life after I reached the point of physical abuse and hate speech.”
“I can’t say more why Collin did these things, just that I witnessed them,” she concluded, adding that she asked for “peace and privacy (and no more hate mail) in the future.”
In response to his daughter’s comment, Jon Gosselin told PEOPLE, “It took courage for Collin to sit down and talk about his past and the last thing I expected was more abuse coming from a brother who hasn’t seen or spoken to him since he was in sixth grade.”

Mady’s statement comes after Collin and her sister Hannah – the only two Kate Plus 8 the children who live with their father, Jon Gosselin – spoke out against the family on Vice TV Dark side of the 2000s. In the episode titled Jon & Kate Plus 8: Family CircusCollin alleged that his mother, Kate Gosselin, “built a barrier” between him and his siblings.
Of his siblings, Collin added, “I really, really hope that one day we can all reconnect and put the show behind us and be siblings again, you know, and take back that time that we didn’t have.”
Hannah confirmed Collin’s claims, saying that when he was growing up, “he couldn’t come out and play with us. He had dinner at different times than we did.”
“I don’t think any effort has been made at home to help him learn what behavior is acceptable and what behavior is not acceptable,” added Hannah, 19.

Hannah, Collin and Jon were the only members of the Gosselin family to appear on the Vice television series. The episode noted that Kate – who also shares Mady’s twin, Cara, and remaining sextuplets Aaden, Leah, Joel and Alexis with ex-husband Jon – declined to participate.
On the show, Jon, 46, also said he doesn’t know why the rest of his kids don’t talk to him. “I don’t have access to the children I’m separated from,” he admitted. “I have no idea why they stopped coming. I have no answers. Like, none. That’s the worst.”
