Folsom Police arrest two suspects for theft of mail and possession of drugs

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of mail and other personally identifying information belonging to dozens of Folsom residents.

The two were arrested at Sacramento County Main Jail Monday on multiple felony charges including impersonation and conspiracy, according to a social media post from the Folsom Police Department.

At around 1:30 a.m., police said officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle with suspended registration in the 1300 block of Fong Street near Lakeside Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

During the stop, officers learned that the driver had a Placer County warrant issued for a felony, and that a passenger in the vehicle was on probation and had two Placer County felony warrants. San Joaquin issued for burglary, according to the department.

Officers then conducted a probationary search of the vehicle during which numerous stolen mail, identifying information, cluster mailbox keys, drug paraphernalia and approximately $8,000 in cash were located , police said.

The suspects were due to appear in court on Wednesday.

The department said detectives will be tracking victims of the mail theft over the next few days.
