Survivor returns to TV for an all-new series in 2023, and new information has been revealed about the reality show’s reboot.
The BBC is set to air a new version of the reality show which only lasted two seasons in the UK, but it has since become a global hit and is now getting a second chance in the UK market.

Who will host Survivor 2023?
Joel Dommett will take on the role of host for Survivor UK, the presenter having previously shown his abilities as a host of shows like Masked Singer UK.
It was first confirmed that he would host the show in February, and he said in a statement: “I am the new host of Survivor in the UK! I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT !
“A big thank you to the BBC for trusting me. It’s a hugely popular format around the world and I’m delighted to help bring it to our sweet little country. Let the Tribal Councils BEGIN!”

Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment for the BBC, also said: “Having Joel on board is great! With his natural comedic charm, we’re thrilled he’s here to guide, cheer, and challenge our competitors as they all try to be the sole survivor!
Who will play in Survivor 2023?
Applications for the comeback series opened in November 2022, with people applying to become contestants in the hope of winning a £100,000 jackpot.
A preview of the cast was shown during the programme’s first trailer, but further details about the 18 contestants starring in Survivor UK have yet to be revealed.
When will Survivor 2023 air?
The reality show is currently being filmed in the Dominican Republic and the BBC has confirmed that it will be released in autumn on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
What is the Survivor?
Survivor is a reality TV competition that sees two tribes of contestants stranded in an isolated location and challenged to create their own communities with fresh water, food and shelter all to be found by the teams.
The new series will see 18 contestants who will be left behind in the Dominican Republic to compete on a series of mental and physical challenges.

As the teams are whittled down by expulsions at tribal council, the tribes end up merging with one lucky contestant walking away as the ultimate survivor, with a cash prize of £100,000.
The reality competition is one of the most successful formats in the world, named “Number 1 Best Reality Show of All Time” by Variety and with 50 international releases to date.
It started in Sweden in 1997 where it is still running and also has successful versions in Spain, Turkey, Russia, Norway, Denmark, Italy, France, Australia and many more country, with the American version set to begin its 43rd season in 2023.
But despite its international success, Survivor only lasted two seasons in the UK, in 2001 and 2002 on ITV.
Kate Phillips, director of unscripted at the BBC, said: “Survivor is a worldwide television success and to be able to bring one of the most successful television formats to audiences in the UK in a way unique to the BBC is in indeed a very exciting prospect.”
Natalka Znak, CEO of Remarkable Entertainment who will direct the series, said, “Survivor is ‘the greatest game show in the world’ for a reason – it has it all – reality, adventure, drama and the ultimate game.”
Is there a trailer for Survivor 2023?
Yes, a trailer was revealed for the reality show during the women’s final at Wimbledon on Saturday July 15 and it gave a glimpse of the tough obstacle courses and challenges the contestants face.
Survivor will air on BBC One in 2023.
