El Paso police investigate woman’s ‘suspicious’ death at motel

El Paso police detectives are investigating the “suspicious” death of a woman found Sunday afternoon at a motel near Downtown, police said.

The woman was found dead shortly after 1:30 p.m. after emergency crews were dispatched on a call of an unresponsive person at the Budget Lodge Motel, 1301 N. Mesa St., police said.

The motel is just north of Downtown, across the street from Cathedral High School.

The death is “considered suspicious in nature” and is under investigation by detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit and crime-scene investigators with the Criminalistics Unit, a police spokesman said in a news media message.

The woman’s identity, a possible cause of death and other information has not been disclosed as the investigation continued Sunday evening.
