Donald Trump changes lawyer in federal documents case, appoints Todd Blanche

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump announced Friday that a new attorney will defend him against federal charges in Florida relating to classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump said in a social media post Todd Blanche, who was involved in his New York state criminal case, and a company to be named later will represent him. That’s a change from Jim Trusty and John Rowley, who led his federal investigations team. Trusty appeared on CNN Thursday to respond to the charges.

Trump thanked Trusty and Rowley, but said they faced a group of prosecutors he disparaged as a group, “the likes of which we’ve never seen before.”

“We will be announcing additional attorneys in the coming days,” Trump said in the Truth Social post.
