MINNEAPOLIS — The Detroit Tigers acquired right-handed reliever Blair Calvo, who made his MLB debut earlier this season, from the Colorado Rockies on Sunday in exchange for cash.
Calvo was optioned on Triple-A Toledo.
The Rockies drafted Calvo in the 23rd round (No. 699 overall) in 2019 from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla.

Calvo made his MLB debut for the Rockies against the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 30 and pitched a scoreless eighth inning out of the bullpen. He retired all three batters he faced on 11 pitches.
Calvo also recorded a 7.43 ERA with 10 walks and 32 strikeouts in 23 innings in 24 relief appearances for Triple-A Albuquerque. He throws a four-seam fastball, sinker, slider, and change.
He was designated for assignment by the Rockies on June 15, three days before the trade to the Tigers.

Right-handed reliever Braden Bristo — claimed waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays on the first day of May — was picked by the Tigers to make room for Calvo on the 40-man roster.
Bristo posted a 7.64 ERA with 11 walks and 21 strikeouts in 17⅔ innings in 15 relief appearances for Triple-A Toledo.
The 28-year-old also allowed three runs (two earned runs) in two games for the Tigers. He recently pitched Wednesday as the 27th player for the doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves.
