Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for “decorum” on the House floor on Wednesday.
Her demand was met with instant laughter and heckling from Democrats.
Greene yelled at President Joe Biden, calling him “a liar,” during the 2023 State of the Union address.
Members of Congress burst into laughter on Wednesday when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for “decorum” in the House.
The incident came just months after Greene was herself criticized for a distinct lack of decorum during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.
In a C-SPAN video of Wednesday’s incident, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise can be seen making remarks about the debt ceiling, when somebody on the House floor appeared to disrupt him.
It is unclear which lawmaker heckled him, or what they said.
Greene then shouted “order” and banged her gavel.
After Scalise asked for some decorum, Greene banged her gavel again, demanding that Democrats behave.
“The members are reminded to abide by the decorum of the House,” she said, instantly causing a ruckus on the House floor.
In the C-SPAN video, members of Congress can be heard erupting into laughter, with others appearing to heckle.
According to The Hill, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Cori Bush rose from their seats and began to shout.
Greene banged her gavel several more times as the laughter continued on the House floor.
In February, Greene, who did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment, joined other Republicans in a raucous moment while Biden accused some Republicans of wanting a Medicare and Social Security sunset.
She stood up and shouted “liar” at the president.
And last month Greene was also blocked from further participation in a House Homeland Security Committee hearing after she broke House rules by calling Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas a “liar.”
In the same hearing, she also accused Rep. Eric Swalwell of having an affair with a Chinese spy.
