But the official trailer gives more clues as to why the unlikely trio should unite as The Marvels, as we learn more about the film’s archvillain, Zawe Ashton’s Dar-Benn. Having obtained a powerful bracelet, she seems determined to get revenge as Dar-Benn jams the light-based powers of Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan.
Each time one of the superhero trio uses their powers, they swap locations with each other and mayhem ensues.
“She’s targeting any planet we call home,” Danvers says at one point in the trailer as she and her fellow Marvels take on Dar-Ben. The Beastie Boys’ “Intergalactic” plays and Samuel L. Jackson flies through the action as Nick Fury to lead the rescue mission of the universe.
