Branford doctor charged with sexually assaulting patient

BRANFORD — A pediatrician has been charged with sexually assaulting a 20-year-old patient during a medical examination last month, according to local police.

Michael Sheehan was charged Friday with second-degree sexual assault, Branford police said in a Facebook post at 3:08 p.m.

Led by the Branford Police Department’s Detective Division, a “thorough investigation” into the assault charge determined it occurred during a “scheduled medical examination,” according to police. The examination took place in late June, police said.

Sheehan has been employed by the medical practice Branford Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine since July 1, 2008, and has worked in the Clinton and Branford offices, according to police. His profile appears to have been removed from the firm’s website.
