Bobby Axelrod is back and ‘wide awake’ in Billions final season trailer

Ax is back for one last showdown.

Damian Lewis, who left Billions at the end of its fifth season, is the focus of the first trailer for the seventh and final season of the Showtime hit, which comes on the heels of the first photos of the fan-favorite character’s return shared exclusively by EW.

“You can’t escape your enemies, because I’m back now,” he intones at the start of the clip. “And I’m wide awake.”

Lewis, as we’ve previously reported, will only appear in six of the season’s 12 episodes, but it seems his shadow will linger even when he’s not around. “Bobby Axelrod doing moves I never saw coming!” exclaims David Costabile’s Wags, who misses his partner in crime.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Paul Giamatti’s Chuck Rhoades promises to “hold the rich, the powerful, and the criminals accountable for their actions, whatever the cost.” Juxtapose that claim against Corey Stoll’s “good billionaire,” Michael Prince, campaigning for his presidential run and you can see why the season’s synopsis teases that “the stakes are rising from Wall Street to the world.”
