Watch the trailer for Bob Marley: One Love
Bob Marley fans said the trailer for the new biopic about the late star gave them “chills”, with some predicting it would be 2024’s “movie of the year”.
The teaser for One Love – which celebrates the life and career of the late singer – was unveiled on Thursday July 6, and the film will be released in January.
Made in partnership with the Marley family, it follows the singer (played by Kingsley Ben-Adir), his music and his life, including the assassination attempt he and his wife Rita (Lashana Lynch) survived in 1976.
Upon the release of the first look, Marley’s son, Ziggy, posted an emotional message on Twitter telling fans that the film “will let you see for the first time what it was like to be around the legend , to see his pain his sorrows his joys and his redemption”.

He said it was hoped One Love would inspire long-time Marley fans “but also the younger generation, giving them a vehicle that opens the door to exploring Bob’s life and music and, that doing so, expands its universal message of unity, justice and peace across the earth”.
Fans flocked to Twitter within minutes of the trailer’s release, saying they can’t wait to see the full feature in January.
“Already movie of the year…Greatest entertainer of all time…” one person tweeted.
“I get chills all the time,” said another.
One said: “It’s time for Bob Marley to have a proper film tribute to the story of his life. One Love feels like a celebration of a fantastic artist.
“The movie of the century!!!!!” predicts someone else.
One fan said he thought the film would be “epic”.
“This is how you tell your story and see how amazingly strong and brave this great lion and his wife Leona Rita Marley were…I’m ready One Love,” said another.
Marley died in 1981 aged 36, after battling cancer.
