Atlanta rapper suspected of role in fatal shooting arrested and charged with murder

ATLANTA (AP) — An Atlanta rapper signed to Young Thug’s record label has been arrested and charged with murder for his alleged role in the shooting death of a man outside an apartment complex.

Atlanta police said Saturday that Jakobe Moody, 20, who goes by FN DaDealer, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the shooting of the June 5, WSB-TV reported.

Moody was being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond, according to jail records. Moody’s mother told the WSB she believes it was mistaken identity. She said the family is hiring a lawyer and plans to issue a statement later this week.

Tremaine Glasper, 28, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a car at an apartment complex on June 5. Police at the time said they were looking for three suspects in the shooting.

Moody is not listed as one of the defendants in Young Thug’s racketeering trial. Jury selection in that trial is expected to resume this month.

The trial of Young Thug and 13 others is expected to last six to nine months.

Prosecutors said Young Thug, real name Jeffery Williams, is the founder of a criminal street gang called Young Slime Life, or YSL, and he and others have committed numerous crimes to further the interests of the gang. Defense attorneys said YSL was just a label, Young Stoner Life, and their clients had done nothing wrong.
