A 17-year-old girl died after a boat she was in crashed into a pier off Cape Cod on Friday night, officials said.
Local emergency officials, with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard, have launched a search and rescue operation for a missing person who was on a boat that struck a pier off Cold Storage Beach, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The body of the teenage victim was pulled from the water around 11:30 p.m., state police said. His name has not been disclosed.
Video from the scene showed a heavy emergency presence and several ambulances as crews scoured the area.
A Barnstable County dive team and Marine Resources from the Sandwich Fire Department assisted in the search.
State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office and Dennis Police are investigating.
