The Oppenheimer actress, 40, opened up about her struggles balancing work and family life in a new interview

Emily Blunt is taking a break from acting as she focuses on motherhood.

“It’s one of those things when people are like, ‘How do you balance that?’ I never feel like I do things right, you know,” Oppenheimer star, 40, said on the Table for two podcast, released on Monday, as she spoke about juggling her career and being a mom.

“But this year, I am not working. I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is 9, so we are in the last single digit year. And I just feel like there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little.”

“And it’s, ‘Do you want to wake me up? Do you want to take me to school? Do you want to pick me up? Do you want to put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good while. And I felt it in my bones,” Blunt added.

The British actress shares her two daughters Hazel, 9, and Violet, 7, with her husband, actor John Krasinski. The couple celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary on Monday.

Blunt said the projects she worked on over the past year were “intense” and “time-consuming” and had an impact on her children as well as herself.

“The ones that take time, I think, for me, are becoming increasingly rare because of the emotional cost to me, to the kids, overall,” she continued.

Blunt said she felt “guilty” as a mother being away from her children on set, however, shared her wish that her daughters be inspired by her and “find something they love to do”.

Elsewhere on the podcast, Blunt praised her and Krasinski’s friendship with her. Oppenheimer costar Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso.

The actress talked about seeing a more laid-back side to her neighbor Damon, 52, in their Brooklyn building.

Blunt stars in ‘Oppenheimer’ out July 21

“We’re like a weird community,” Blunt told host Bozzi during the appearance, as they discussed her and Krasinski’s tendency to live close to their friends in the entertainment industry. “Like I never see Matt Damon without his slippers again, you know. He’s just always in his slippers. I haven’t seen him in regular shoes in a long time.”

“It’s because we live in the same building, so we just saw each other,” she added, noting that she, Krasinski, 43, Damon and Barroso grew closer after the 2011 shooting . The Adjustment Office together. “It’s the best.”
