Andy Murray is one set away from a place in the Wimbledon third round after a late-night classic against Stefanos Tsitsipas was cut short by the tournament’s 11pm curfew.
On the eve of the 10th anniversary of his first All England Club title, Murray rolled back the years with a performance that showcased all his grit, skill and talent on the pitch to lead 6-7(3), 7-6 (2), 6-4.
There were boos when it was announced the game would be halted with 20 minutes left until the final point, but Murray probably wasn’t too disappointed after an extremely concerning moment at set point when the Scotsman shouted in pain and fell to the ground. clutching his left groin.
Luckily, he got up quickly and clinched the set with a serve that drew an error from Tsitsipas, and the hope must be that he didn’t do anything that could jeopardize his chances.
The pair will return to center court to complete the second round match, with the replay not taking place until 3pm.
