Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler said he was contacted by the grandmother of a 19-year-old man from Taylorville, who has a developmental disability.

Wheeler, reached on Saturday, said the grandmother was worried her grandson would leave the house and “go to dangerous places”.

The grandmother had told her grandson to stay home or stay in the area while she was at work, Wheeler said.

She was also worried because he was getting calls and texts from a phone number she didn’t know, Wheeler added.

In an interview with Wheeler, the 19-year-old was able to give him Eiskant’s name and where he lived.

Subject also granted a forensic interview at the Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center in Springfield.

Taylorville police conducted a search of Eiskant’s apartment on the northwest side of town, and he was later arrested.

Eiskant faces 6 to 30 years behind bars for the offense, if convicted.

According to online records, Eiskant was on probation for pleading guilty to methamphetamine possession in February 2022.

Wheeler said Eiskant had previously been a registered sex offender in Taylorville.

He added that further charges are expected to be filed by Chrisian County State’s Attorney John McWard against Eiskant.
