Taylor Swift and Matty Healy’s spring fling is over, with multiple reports saying the two have split after a whirlwind and contentious romance.

“Taylor and Matty have broken up. They’re both extremely busy and realized they weren’t really compatible with each other,” a source told entertainment tonight. “Taylor’s friends want the best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship has fallen apart since she recently broke off a long-term relationship.”

An insider added to We Weekly: “They had fun together, but it was never serious.”

Yahoo Entertainment contacted representatives for Swift and Healy, but did not receive a response.

It was revealed in April that Swift and Joe Alwyn had ended their six-year relationship. Neither star has commented on the split, but the “Lover” singer made subtle references to heartbreak during her Eras tour. She also made subtle references to new love.

In early May, initial reports surfaced that Swift, 33, was seeing the band’s frontman Healy in 1975. A few days later, he was attending shows in his hometown of Nashville. PDA-filled date nights soon followed. “I don’t know, I’ve never been happier in my life in any aspect of my life,” Swift even said two weeks ago.

But the Swifties are likely rejoicing on Monday. Many of the singer’s fans were unhappy with her whirlwind romance, as Healy, 34, is no stranger to controversy.

Years ago, Healy – who was briefly linked to Swift in 2014 – said it would be “emasculating” to date her. In January, he was accused of “giving a Nazi salute” on stage. The British musician is known for pushing the envelope during his performances, but some have accused him of predatory behavior when kissing fans at concerts. (Or, like last weekend, when he kissed a security guard.)

In February, Healy faced backlash for a podcast appearance where he laughed when the hosts made racist and offensive comments. One of the jabs mocked Ice Spice, who Swift just collaborated with on the “Karma” remix. When Healy addressed the controversy last week New Yorker profile, he did himself a disservice.

Healy was asked if he was baiting his fans on purpose with this podcast. “A little,” he replied. “But that doesn’t really matter. Nobody’s sitting there at night slumped in front of their computer, and their boyfriend comes over and says, ‘What’s wrong, honey?’ and they say, ‘It’s just this thing with Matty Healy.’ It doesn’t happen,” he said.

The reporter said “maybe it happens”.

“If so,” he said, “either you’re wrong or you’re, sorry, a liar. Either you lie saying you’re hurt, or you’re a little crazy for being It’s just people are going, “Oh, there’s a bad thing there, let me get as close to it as possible so you can see how good I am.” they kind of do that, because they’re demonstrating something so basic.”

Fans wrote Swift an open letter asking her to address Healy’s past behavior. She has never publicly discussed her romance with the musician, nor the controversy that follows. But Swift announced more news on Monday as she unveiled the vault tracks and collaborators for her upcoming album, Speak now (Taylor’s version).
