Sumter man wanted in connection with vehicle and weapons theft charges

A Sumter man is wanted on charges of theft of a vehicle and weapons, Sumter police said Friday.

Tyquan Jerome Bell-Sanders, 21, is considered armed and dangerous, Sumter Police said in a statement.

Bell-Sanders was found by officers driving a vehicle that was reported stolen in his May 27 crash, the statement said. The suspect then fled the vehicle. A firearm that had also been reported stolen was found inside the vehicle.

Bell-Sanders had still not been seen Saturday morning, said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department. He was last seen getting out of the car on Maney Street in Sumter, she said.

The vehicle and firearm are believed to have been stolen from two separate counties in the Midlands, but McGirt did not confirm which counties.

A cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest, according to the statement.

Anyone who sees Bell-Sanders or has information on his location is asked to contact the Sumter Police Department at 803-436-2700 or call the nearest law enforcement agency.
