Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday surrounded an Arden Arcade apartment complex for a suspect wanted in a San Jose homicide who initially refused to come out but later surrendered, authorities said.

The apartment complex is in the 1500 block of Morse Avenue, between Trussel and Berkshire ways. The Sacramento sheriff’s deputies were there to assist San Jose Police Department officers trying to take the suspect into custody, sheriff’s officials said.

The man wanted in connection with the San Jose homicide initially refused to come out, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesman. A SWAT team was later called to the scene to help the officers and the deputies.

About 6 p.m., Gandhi announced that the homicide suspect had surrendered to authorities at the scene and was taken into custody.
