President Joe Biden to deliver remarks as wars in Israel, Ukraine continue: Watch live

President Joe Biden will give remarks from the Oval Office Thursday evening during primetime about the wars in Israel and Ukraine.

USA TODAY will be providing live coverage of Biden’s address, which begins at 8 p.m. ET. You can watch at the video at the top of this page or on USA TODAY’s YouTube channel.

Biden’s remarks follow his trip to Israel this week, where he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, pledged support in the Jewish state’s war against Hamas and sought to prevent the war from expanding into a larger conflict.

Biden arrived as tensions were mounting after an explosion Tuesday at a Gaza City hospital that had been treating wounded Palestinians and sheltering many more who were seeking a refuge from the fighting.

The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza blamed an Israeli airstrike. The Israeli military said the destruction was caused by a misfired Palestinian rocket. The blast prompted worldwide outrage and protests.

At the start of a meeting with Netanyahu, Biden said it did not appear that Israel was to blame.

Biden’s Thursday address will also cover the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Last week, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a $200 million military aid package for Ukraine that includes ammunition for air defense and artillery ammuniton and anti-tank and -drone weapons. This weapons shipment is the latest since Russia invaded in February 2022, bringing total American military support to more than $40 billion.
