Brian Stephans heard about a half dozen gunshots in front of his Shadeland Avenue home around 10 a.m. Tuesday in Pittsburgh’s Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood.
“I was just getting out of bed, woke up, I heard some gunshots. That’s all I heard. As fast as it happened, it was over,” Stephans said.
Pittsburgh Police say a man was shot in the upper body multiple times near the corner of Shadeland and Geyer Avenues.
Officers found him a few blocks away near Schimmer Street and Staho Way.
He was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

“With the neighborhood, it’s hard to say. It’s not the best, but not the worst,” Stephans said.
According to Stephans, his street has seen a fair share of violence.
He remembers a kid being shot and killed in 2016.
And his home had an old bullet hole in the siding.
“Second story, next to the window. That’s about ten years old. There was a shooting up there,” he said, pointing to the hole.
Police said another home on Shadeland Avenue was hit by a bullet Tuesday.
Officers also found two guns at the scene.
Stephans believes officers are trying to do what they can, but the violence continues.
“The police drive by a lot, they make their presence known,” he said. “It is what it is. You’ve got to make the best of it. It’s still my neighborhood.”
Police have not released the name or age of the man who was shot.
They have not publicly named any suspects or announced any arrests.
