Natalie Portman and hubby Benjamin Millepied are still together after her ‘huge mistake’: source

Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied work privately through marital struggles.

Their marriage is the subject of a new article in the French newspaper Here is, who claims that Millepied had an extramarital affair. A source told PEOPLE, “It was short lived and it’s over.”

Portman, 41, and director/choreographer Millepied, 45, who met on the set of the 2010 film Black Swanare staying together despite her “huge mistake,” a source close to the couple told PEOPLE.

“He knows he made a huge mistake and he’s doing everything he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together,” the source said. “Natalie is incredibly private and has no intention of talking about it in the media. Her highest priority is protecting her children and their privacy.”

Representatives for Portman and Millepied had no immediate comment.

Portman and Millepied share two children: son Aleph, 12 this month, and daughter Amalia, 6.

The couple wed on August 4, 2012. Portman celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in August 2022 with an Instagram tribute, writing at the time alongside a photo of them together, “Ten years today @ benjaminmillepied, and it just keeps getting better…”

Portman supported Millepied on the red carpet in September for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Carmen, which he directed. The film debuted in theaters in April, although he attended the premiere that month solo.

Portman previously recalled meeting Millepied while making Black Swan in 2009, where Millepied was the film’s choreographer as she learned the ballet sequences.

“I met my husband on it, so I think I was in dreamland,” Portman said in a 2018 SiriusXM town hall interview. “…He was teaching me to dance. You know, one of those romantics [stories] … It was really exciting and fun. It was beautiful. I don’t know for now. It was like I really got to know him and that’s when it struck me, ‘Oh, that’s the person.’ “

Portman and Millepied collaborated again on his 2018 film Vox Lux, in which she played a troubled pop star. The Oscar-winning actress told PEOPLE at the time why she loved working with her husband on the project.



“It was really fun because I think he knows me so well, and what my strengths and weaknesses are in dance, that he was really able to create choreography in a very smooth and fast way because we had very little time,” she said. “So it was very convenient that he knows me so well and is as talented as he is.”

Portman continued, “It was fun watching him create because I don’t often watch him in the studio. Just to see the ease and expertise he has, and of course with different types of dance too, it was really, really breathtaking.”
