Lando Norris did his best to make it interesting, but Max Verstappen eventually won the British Grand Prix, a record 11th successive victory for Red Bull Racing.
McLaren’s Norris stormed the reigning two-time world champion from the start and led out of the Abbey corner. But Verstappen, with his Honda powertrain and DRS help, regained the lead on lap 5 and built up an eight-second advantage before the first lap of pit stops.
Verstappen would take the win despite a late safety car ahead of Mercedes’ Norris and Lewis Hamilton.

Brad Pitt is shooting a movie at Silverstone
No, the 59-year-old two-time Oscar winner won’t be driving on track alongside the F1 drivers in official sessions, but Brad Pitt will be lapping up laps at Silverstone this weekend. Pitt will drive a modified Junior Formula 2 car – which has far less horsepower than the sport’s top tier – on the track filming scenes for his upcoming F1 film titled ‘Apex’.
The plot revolves around an aging former racer named Sonny Hayes (Pitt) who returns to F1 to team up with young hotshot rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). The entry even has its own garage and stand on the Silverstone pit lane.
Best drivers and best bets for the British Grand Prix
Verstappen is once again the heavy favorite this weekend, as he will be until anyone, including team-mate Sergio Perez, can mount a credible challenge. Perez is the only other driver to enter the weekend with odds above 10 to 1 according to BetMGM.
Better chances of winning
• Max Verstappen-350
• Sergio Perez +700
• Lewis Hamilton +1,100
Yahoo Sports’ Nick Bromberg wrote earlier this week about some interesting props if you’re looking to bet on more than just a Verstappen win (which you definitely still should be). Bromberg likes Fernando Alonso to finish ahead of Charles Leclerc (-110), Aston Martin to finish ahead of Ferrari (+100) and Lewis Hamilton to clinch a podium in his home race (+115)

Weather for the British Grand Prix
Forecasts call for warm, partly cloudy conditions on Friday and cooler temperatures through the weekend. There is a 51% chance of rain for Saturday’s qualifying session, so we could expect a mixed grid. Cool, cloudy conditions for Sunday combined with Pirelli bringing the hardest tires in the lineup seem to be crying out for a one stop race that the pointy end of the field is likely to dominate.
