Man shot and killed in Sacramento’s Gardenland neighborhood

One person is dead following a shooting Saturday night in the Gardenland section of South Natomas, according to Sacramento police.

Officers were called at 9:41 p.m. to the 2600 block of American Avenue near Peralta Avenue for a report of a shooting, police said in a news release, and found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after and declared the man dead.

No suspect has been named in connection with the shooting after homicide detectives combed the neighborhood and spoke with witnesses for several hours. A motive for the shooting was also not disclosed.

The victim’s identity is expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, pending notification of the victim’s family.
