Britney Spears, her attorney and Kevin Federline are all slamming a tabloid story alleging the pop star has a serious drug problem.

Over the weekend, the Daily mail published an exclusive story, by journalist Daphne Barak, which quoted Federline as saying he feared the mother of his two children was using crystal meth. The story claimed that Spears’ underage sons – from whom she had been estranged for more than a year – saw drugs being delivered to their mother’s home. Spears’ father Jamie – whom she had removed as curator, citing abuse by the curator – reportedly told Barak he feared his daughter would suffer the same fate as Amy Winehouse.

Federline condemned the story, calling it a “lie” and Spears and her lawyer Mathew Rosengart followed suit. Rosengart sent a legal letter to the outlet asking that the “false and defamatory” story be removed from the website.

Barak, who helmed Federline and Sons headlines last year, told Yahoo Entertainment that she “absolutely stands by the story.” She claims that Federline “clearly and repeatedly … voiced her concerns that Britney might use” the drug — and more.

Spears, Federline and Rosengart react to allegations

THE Daily mail The story was published on Saturday. “I’m afraid she’s on meth,” Federline reportedly said. On Sunday, Federline – who has full custody of the boys – accused Barak of deciding “to fabricate lies”. In his statement, posted on Instagram, he said that while he worked with Barak and his producing partner Erbil Gunasti for the 2022 interview – in which Spears’ sons publicly criticized their mother and for which the former dancer reportedly paid $2 million. – he “cut ties” with the couple because “trust was lost” for an undisclosed reason. He claimed that Barak had “continued to harass our family as we repeatedly asked him to leave us alone”.

Spears then also took to Instagram to react to the “lies”, calling the story “so low”.

“The fact that people are claiming things that aren’t true is so sad,” she wrote in part. “It breaks my heart and the news is so low…I always felt like the news intimidated me…It’s sad because everyone sits around like it’s okay to make up stories lies to this point…Why am I being told I have to sit and rise above???When they all go down so low???I hope its just that the news is hateful and Kevin ni Preston didn’t say any of those things…”

The same day, Rosengart sent the Daily mail a legal letter criticizing the report, which he said contained “numerous false and defamatory fabrications regarding my client Britney Spears that are attributed to Kevin Federline and his children, particularly regarding ‘crystalline meth’.” He said Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2006, “recognized the fallacy of Ms. Barak’s story.”

Rosengart went on to write, “I have learned separately that on several occasions Ms Barak has sought to contact Britney under false pretences, again using her underage children, which is exploitation, harassment and outrage. And moreover, reps for Britney were never contacted prior to the publication of the story, further demonstrating the actual viciousness and reckless disregard for the truth.” The letter ended: “Britney is indeed a public figure, but this conduct is beyond pale and totally unacceptable. It is shoddy even by today’s standards of ‘journalism’ and the unfair scrutiny to which it was confronted.”

On Monday, Rosengart told Yahoo in a statement: “Kevin Federline himself has now admitted the falsity of the story, saying it contains ‘fabrications’ and ‘lies’ about Britney. In addition to exploiting and of making false claims about Britney, especially regarding “Crystal meth”, the “story” also exploits her underage children, which is beyond pale. This writer has also repeatedly sought to contact Britney under de false pretences, using his children as bait, which is outrageous. That was poor, shoddy journalism ‘even in the current era of clickbait journalism.”

Barack stands by his story, saying Federline made the allegations ‘clearly and repeatedly’

The reporter told Yahoo in a statement on Monday, “We stand absolutely by the story as it appeared in The mail on Sunday and the sun on Sunday. We’ve spent months working with Kevin, his wife and family, including Britney’s boys Jayden and Preston, for a new documentary. We spent 12 days filming together. Around this time, Kevin shared his fears of Britney using crystal meth with Daphne, our producer Erbil Gunasti, members of our production and mutual friends. He did it clearly and repeatedly. Kevin also made it clear to Daphne that he was hoping someone would come forward with the situation as he saw it, as that would be the way to get help for Britney.”

Barack continued: “We have hours of recorded and filmed material, and other documentary evidence, with Kevin expressing his views on Britney – sometimes in vicious terms. Daphne has said in previous TV interviews that some parts were too hurtful to Britney, and so – will Maybe Kevin was disappointed by an unbiased account of the situation – an account that clearly shows that Britney was right in a number of things she said, including the fact that she finances the lifestyle of others, including her own.”

The latest on Spears and Federline

On May 9, Federline, a father of six, was sued by a school attended by two of his six children for $16,000 for non-payment of tuition.

Shortly after, it was reported that the DJ would be moving from California to Hawaii with his second wife Victoria, their two children and sons Preston and Jayden. Spears, who expressed pain over her estrangement from her sons, approved the move, according to her lawyer.

Spears fans speculated that Federline’s decision was to potentially extend child support. In Hawaii, child support is ordered for children up to age 23 if they are enrolled full-time in college, university, or trade school. Last year, Spears claimed on social media that she was paying her ex $40,000 a month in child support and that it would end, under California law, when they graduated from college. secondary education at 18 or 19 years old.

Amid all this drama, Spears celebrated her first wedding anniversary with hubby Sam Asghari. (The wedding took place on June 9, 2022 – and Federline’s lawyer announced the day the singer’s sons would not attend the ceremony.) There has been endless speculation about Spears’ marriage to Asghari . Ahead of the anniversary, the chatter increased when she briefly deactivated her Instagram. However, they apparently had fun celebrating together.

“Happy 1 year to me and my better half,” Asghari wrote on her Instagram Stories, alongside a snap of their rings. “One year of marriage to the woman of my dreams. Happy anniversary my love.” Over the weekend, he also posted what appears to be a new photo of them, captioned: “Me and my little lady.”
