Blackpink’s Jennie in recovery after leaving concert mid-song due to ‘deteriorating condition’

Blackpink member Jennie was forced off stage during the band’s “Born Pink” tour of Australia due to what YG Entertainment described in a statement as “her deteriorating condition.” The agency’s memo was released the same day as the broadcast (June 11) and included an apology to fans on Jennie’s behalf, as well as the hopeful remark that she would recover as soon as possible.

“Jennie was unable to complete the scene due to her deteriorating condition,” the entertainment agency said on the fan platform on WeVerse. “We would like to extend our sincere apologies to all the fans who showed their support for Blackpink and to those who attended the event. We ask for your understanding in this situation.

In videos captured by fans of the event, Jennie can be seen dancing alongside her bandmates Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo as they sang “Lovesick Girls.” Suddenly, the “Idol” singer and actor stops and quickly turns around and descends a series of steps to exit the stage.

The statement further claimed that Jennie had expressed a “strong determination to continue the performance until the end”, but that medical professionals had advised her not to continue. “We immediately took action to ensure she had sufficient rest and stability,” YG explained.

Blackpink have been on tour since October last year and are set to wrap up the World Trek in Auckland later this month. In the meantime, they will host two back-to-back sold-out shows at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Friday June 16 and 17.

Jennie is also fresh off a turbulent appearance at Cannes for her role in Sam Levinson’s new HBO show “The Idol,” which features the K-pop singer making her acting debut alongside Lily Rose-Depp, The Weeknd, Troye Sivan and many more. On the same day as her abrupt exit from the concert, “The Idol” premiered its second episode, titled “Double Fantasy”, which saw the expansion of Jennie’s role as a supporting character.
