Gal Luft claims to have proof that Hunter Biden takes advantage of his surname in deals with China.
-
Luft himself has been accused by the DOJ of misrepresentation and being a foreign agent of China.
-
After months of secrecy surrounding the charges against Luft, the indictment has been made public.
A missing witness in the Hunter Biden business dealings investigation who claims to have proof of the president’s son’s corrupt dealings with the Chinese government has reappeared after he himself was accused of being a Chinese agent and fled .
Days after Gal Luft publicly challenged the DOJ to unseal the indictment against him — alleging the charges he faces are a political attempt to cover up his Hunter Biden bribery allegations — that’s exactly what officials did.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office on Monday released the indictment against the dual American-Israeli citizen, who was arrested in Cyprus in February for willfully failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (“FARA”), arms trafficking, violations of Iranian sanctions, and making false statements to federal agents.
Luft and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where the charges were filed, did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
The indictment against Luft
Prosecutors say that while Luft was co-director of a strategic think tank, Analysis of Global Security, he agreed to ‘covertly recruit and pay’ a former senior government official and adviser to then-President Trump to publicly support policies that would benefit China without registering as an agent of a foreign entity.
Luft told the New York Post that the top official is former Central Intelligence Agency director James Woolsey, who also worked as a consultant for Luft’s think tank and was a senior White House adviser to Donald Trump. .
Prosecutors allege Luft created a written “dialogue” between Woolsey and an associate of CEFC China Energy, a state-owned energy company, which was later published in an online Chinese newspaper.
As Luft wrote, his associate at CEFC China Energy said of Woolsey “[i]n these articles, we don’t want to reveal everything yet, just enough to let “people” know that he is in the corridor of power. Just a general political consideration that leaves a lot of room for interpretation and imagination to be completed later.”
In addition to alleged actions aimed at influencing US policy in favor of China, prosecutors say Luft “worked to negotiate an agreement for Chinese companies to sell certain weapons to Libya, including anti-tank launchers, grenades and mortar shells (which LUFT and its associates refer to in code language as “toys”).”
“LUFT also worked to broker deals for certain weapons for sale to the UAE, including aerial bombs and rockets,” the indictment states.
Luft faces up to 100 years in prison if convicted on the eight counts against him. He has vehemently denied the charges against the NY Post, saying the investigation was politically motivated to prevent him from coming forward to share what he claims is evidence Hunter Biden is cashing in on his father’s name in deals business with Chinese people who have ties to military intelligence.
Luft’s claims about the Biden family
Through his own dealings with CEFC China Energy, Luft said he was able to confirm Hunter Biden’s dealings with the company, including meetings with officials and dollar amounts of deals made.
Additionally, Luft claimed that Hunter Biden was friends with an FBI agent — a mole called “One Eye” — who Luft said tipped off Hunter’s contacts at CEFC to alert them to investigations into their dealings with the son of Biden.
In an interview with the New York Post published last Wednesday, where he dared prosecutors to unseal the indictment, saying it would “make (his) day,” Luft says the charges stem from a meeting that he organized with FBI agents in 2019, in Brussels, Belgium, where Luft says he shared information with intelligence agents about the Biden family’s ties to CEFC China Energy.
Before his father took office, the current president’s son struck multimillion-dollar deals with the company in 2017 to carry out energy projects that never materialized, the Washington reported. Post. Hunter is accused of using Joe Biden’s name in the deals in what is believed to be a conflict of interest, although it is unconfirmed whether the elder Biden was personally aware of the business dealings.
Emails between Hunter and his business partners refer to saving a percentage of the deal’s profits for ‘the big guy’, the NY Post has reported, prompting inquiries into what Joe Biden knew about the deals .
Christopher Clark, an attorney for Hunter Biden, did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
On the run
After being arrested in February – while the indictment against him was still sealed to the public – Luft fled once released on bail.
His whereabouts are currently unknown.
“I volunteered to notify the US government of a possible security breach and compromising information about a man running to be the next president,” Luft told the NY Post. “I am now being hunted by the same people I informed and may have to live on the run for the rest of my life.”
Luft added: “I have warned the government of potential risks to the integrity of the 2020 election… Think about it and ask yourself who is a real criminal in this story?”
