2 women charged with shooting over Platte County food ordering error, authorities say

Two women have been charged in a shooting allegedly stemming from an order error at a Platte County restaurant. One person was injured.

A shooting was reported around 5.20pm on Saturday at the Vivion West shopping center in the 2500 block of Vivion Road where a 24-year-old woman was shot in the foot while working in a restaurant, Maj Eric said Holland. , a spokesperson for the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

Renyshia Handson is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and Aaliyah Kidd is charged with third-degree assault, according to a press release released Sunday by the Platte County District Attorney’s Office. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

Witnesses told police that Handson and Kidd entered the restaurant, ordered food, and then Kidd appeared unhappy with the order. An argument ensued as Kidd allegedly threatened to physically assault two employees behind the counter if she did not fix the order, according to the probable cause statement.

Kidd eventually walked out of the restaurant after continuing to “verbally assault” employees, accusing him of reading documents. Handson stayed back; as restaurant workers tried to push her out of business, she threatened to “pistol whip” them, witnesses told authorities.

Handson then appeared to hit one of the employees in the back with the butt of a gun she had with her.

As Handson was about to leave the company, she turned and fired once into the building, missing an employee who was standing in the doorway but hitting another employee who was standing inside to film interaction. That person suffered a scrape on his foot from the bullet, according to court records.

During a police interview, Kidd said employees messed up her order by giving her food she was allergic to. Handson told detectives she shot because she was blowing herself up and because an employee was trying to choke her. However, video of the incident obtained by police shows Handson was never suffocated, the charging documents read.

“We’re lucky that no one lost their life just because someone pulled out a gun for a food order,” Platte County District Attorney Eric Zahnd said in a news release Sunday.

The women are being held at the Platte County Detention Center. Handson’s bail is set at $100,000 cash and Kidd’s is set at $5,000 cash.
